In today's USA TODAY newspaper......
There is an offer for free U.S. presidential coins for only the cost of the crystal tube they come in. My girlfriend noticed it and brought it home to me. Thinking, "noone gives away free stuff", I checked it out to find the catch/scam.
The artice is in Friday, 5/30th USA TODAY pg. 6B First off, i should correct myself because it isn't an article, it is a full page advertisement. It says it in small print at the top, but the ad is made to look like it is just another article/story in the paper. Fishy from the start. It says you can get 5 free US presidential coins 1$ face value that have "in god we trust" on the edge. It claims because of the governments banning of anymore coins with that on the edge, they will increase in value as well. The whole thing seems like a scam to me. Someone trying to make money off of worthless junk from some suckers. ANyone have this paper?? Check it out and comment. |
Re: In today's USA TODAY newspaper......
If I'm wrong and you guys think this is a deal than maybe some of you will hop on it. I know little about coins and have recently gotten into them from following Ron Paul. Any experts want to let me know what they think? These aren't gold/silver. The ad mentions that they have a 3$ value in this years coin guide, but I'm wondering about the potential numismatic value for it.
EDIT: The company is called World Reserve Monetary Exchange |

They'llget the person on the phone, then the sales guy will give them the full work over to try to get them to buy more expensive stuff and probably not bullion.

It's a cheap way for a company to create a mailing list

Shit, I can't believe I forgot to mention that these "free giveaway" coins cost 32$ per tube of 5 coins.

Re: In today's USA TODAY newspaper......
Where is the free???? How do you give away something that's worth $5 for $32 and still call it a free giveaway?
In my opinion, they have potential numismatic value, but that's way off in the future. Good thing is that you can get the same coins for no premium. Just go to your local bank and ask for them. They'll give you a special offer too. They'll sell you a $1 face coin for $1! How's that for a deal? Or you could try the post office. Change is dished out by the post office machines with these coins. Again, a $1 face value coin is issued for every $1 in change due to you! The best thing of all, there is no further obligation, although you did have to buy stamps to qualify for the special $1 for $1 offer. |
